Certificate courses
Offered by each school are usually held over one or two intensive weekends. The math certification exam typically requires students to demonstrate each Pilates exercise and explain how it’s done, which muscles work, and what the exercises will look like after a week or month of consistent practice. You should also be able to explain and demonstrate alternative strategies for each exercise to accommodate different students.
If you want to work out, there are more advanced Pilates certifications that may be required to open a Pilate’s studio where you can train other instructors in private Pilate’s studios or gyms. This certification will give you an edge over regular Pilate’s instructors. Schools offering this course and exam require that at the end of the course the student has a good understanding of how the human body and muscle groups work and how they change in the Pilates routine. These programs typically include strength training using a reformer or other Pilate’s equipment. These advanced certificate courses usually last one year and some require training at a local Pilate’s studio.
