Owner – Miles Mencer
In A tree service company called Mencer’s Tree Service was founded by George “Bill” Mencer in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1958. Mencer’s Tree Service was founded by him when he was 26 years old after joining the marines at age 17. George had always dreamed of providing for his family. They all served in the Army after he began his tree business. In the years that followed, the Mencer family’s life did not get easier as more children were born.
In In July 1962, Miles Mencer was born as the fourth child of five. Hard work and determination were instilled in him from an early age. In order to live rent-free, they maintained a farm. They knew, however, that they could only make money from the tree business. Miles and his brothers were already helping their father in the trees by the age of nine years old. A pick-up truck, a saw, and a dream were all they needed. In spite of their professions, George’s sons were encouraged to do the best work for a fair price. Their very small company began to slowly grow because they prided themselves on doing the best work for a fair price. As a result, they constantly strived to improve. An unfortunate tractor accident claimed George’s life in 1987. It was a devastating time for the family.
At this time, Miles had two sons of his own. Over the years, Miles has done everything he can to build Mencer’s Tree Service, LLC into what it is today. It’s a company based on core moral values as well as a standard of work rarely rivaled and envied. Miles’ eldest son, Andy, now runs the company with the help of his father.
